The last few weeks have been incredibly busy – the most exciting news is Kangasong‘s (Joey) entry for Badminton has been accepted. However, the last few days have been a bit tense, as I’ve been struggling with a sprained ankle.
I had an unlucky tip-up with Treloar (Theo) in the cross country at Ballindenisk in the CCI**. We’re both fine (apart from my ankle) so I just need to give it plenty of rest before Badminton. Thankfully I have a great back up team and the horses are still getting plenty of work.
I’ve been pleased with how all the horses have come out this year. Gary Power’s stallions have been on great form – PSH Promise Me (Pinky) and PSH Bespoke (Vic) both jumped double clear at their first three events – Tweseldown, Aldon and Sapey. Their stable mate PSH Blue Tango (Leyla) also picked up her first BE points with double clears in the novice sections at Gatcombe and Weston Park.
It’s great to have The Master’s Apprentice (Archie) back in the team. He felt really good at Weston Park in the intermediate but unfortunately he lost a shoe on the cross-country in the CIC*** at Belton. CSF Cool Guy (Guy) has greatly improved on the flat this winter and has also had pleasing performances at his first few events.
My gate-jumping champ (from Blenheim 2014) Hilldown Prophet (Prophet) has come out a different horse this season thanks to a winter’s hunting. He’s stormed round his first few novice outings with renewed enthusiasm.
